DATA HUBS

AERIS

The AERIS atmosphere data hub was created in 2014 but draws on over 20 years of experience in its domain. It encompasses four integrated and increasingly connected data and service centres. AERIS generates products from observations and offers a range of support services for data users, data survey campaigns and interfacing with models.

Atmospheric research covers dynamics, physics and chemistry. It also includes work geared more towards climate change research. The scientific community uses both models and observations from ground, satellite or aerial platforms.

Deputy Scientific Director: Sébastien Payan (Sorbonne University)

ForM@Ter

The ForM@Ter data and services hub created in late 2014 aims to ease access to data acquired and managed by research laboratories and observation structures—national observation services (SNOs), research infrastructures, space missions, etc.—working in the solid Earth field. It seeks to exploit the massive influx of data from new space missions, new types of ground sensors, airborne sensors, antenna arrays and citizen instruments, as well as from laboratory experiments and modelling. It is also working on building a digital archive of Earth.

THEIA

The THEIA land surfaces data hub was created in 2012. It is structured around several data centers and services (CDS), 27 Scientific Expertise Centres (CES) and five Theia regional mediation centres (ART).

Theia provides for the national and international scientific community and public environmental resource monitoring and management policies a vast portfolio of value-added satellite data products, software, algorithms and image processing to support observation of land surfaces (forests, crops, biodiversity, etc.).

Director: Nicolas Baghdadi (INRAE)
In-situ Data Officer: Sylvie Galle (IRD)

ODATIS

The ODATIS ocean data hub was created in 2016. It federates national oceanography data management and scientific expertise activities. Its aims are to guarantee long-term access to heritage data and to ease uptake of in-situ and/or remote-sensing data acquired in the ocean or at its interface with other environments. ODATIS thus works to describe, quantify and understand the oceans from a broad perspective.

Director: Gilbert Maudire (Ifremer)
Deputy Scientific Director: Sabine Schmidt (CNRS)
