Commission III Mid-Term Symposium
As part of the 2022-26 Franco-Brazilian Presidency of Commission III “Remote Sensing” of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing ( ISPRS ), the SFPT is partnering with the Brazilian remote sensing company SELPER-Brasil to organize the mid-term symposium in Belém (Brazil) from November 4 to 8, 2024. Together with the Latin American Symposium on Remote Sensing SELPER, and several thematic tutorials and workshops, including South American Water from Space IV and Geo-information for Disaster Management (Gi4DM). This dual event will be hosted by the Federal University of Pará ( UFPA )
DATA TERRA is a sponsor and will be present during the event to present its divisions and particularly its National Institutional System for Shared Access to Satellite Imagery DINAMIS.
It will also be an opportunity to discuss the OFVi project for which we will coordinate a data access platform. This international cooperation was set up with the aim of scientifically supporting tropical basin countries in preserving environmental integrity, irrecoverable biodiversity and carbon reservoirs in tropical forests and wetlands. The One Forest Vision initiative (OFVi) will make possible transparent monitoring of forest degradation, carbon stocks and tropical biodiversity.
We are very pleased to represent French research and to contribute to the discussions on the various themes that cover a very wide range of subjects related to remote sensing: from satellite image acquisition and processing techniques (space missions, sensors, algorithms, etc.), with sessions dedicated to new missions (SWOT, Biomass, etc.), to a wide variety of applications in Earth and planetary sciences, climate, environment and society, with a particular focus on the Amazon and tropical environments.
