ForM@Ter’s DSM-OPT on-demand processing service open

SERVICES FORMATER

The DSM-OPT service—for Digital Surface Models from OPTical stereoscopic very-high resolution imagery—is open and accessible via the ForM@Ter data hub’s portal. DSM-OPT processes digital surface models from Pleiades stereo and tri-stereo imagery, currently from uploaded image files and ultimately from the DINAMIS catalogue.

DSM-OPT processing service for DSMs

This service has been developed by the EOST school and observatory of Earth sciences in collaboration with the THEIA data hub and the DINAMIS service, with contributions from the MATIS stereo image analysis and processing methods research laboratory at France’s national mapping, survey and forestry agency IGN and the IPGP Earth physics institute, Paris. It is deployed on the A2S processing infrastructure hosted at the University of Strasbourg Mesocentre and accessible to the French scientific and institutional community, the international scientific community and other users on the Geohazards Exploitation Platform (GEP/ESA). DSM-OPT has been set up with support from ESA, CNES and CNRS/INSU.

The on-demand service offers the ability for non-expert communities to process data with pre-set parameters while allowing expert communities to define more advanced parameters themselves. It is underpinned by the MicMac photogrammetry library (IGN/MATIS) and ad-hoc developments by EOST and IPGP.

Accessing and using the service

The terms and conditions for using DSM-OPT are set out in the charter that can be viewed on the service access page.

The service is accessible to authorized users and members of ForM@Ter’s, Theia’s and Data Terra’s overseeing bodies from the dedicated on-demand processing services page on the ForM@Ter portal.

The service requires users to log on. The log-on procedure is detailed on the services page.
